The short version
- Where it hurts and your answers stay in this browser tab. Close the tab and they're gone.
- Your location never leaves your phone. We only use it to work out distances.
- We only get your name, contact details and symptom summary if you ask a clinic for an appointment, see exactly what will be sent, and tick the box to agree.
- No ads, no ad trackers, and we don't sell your information.
What stays on your phone
The part of the body you chose, your answers, and your ZIP code or location are kept in this browser tab only, and cleared when you close it. Distances to clinics are worked out on your phone, so we never receive your location.
When you request an appointment
Before anything is sent, you see a box headed "What we'll send" with exactly what the clinic will get: your name, how to reach you, where it hurts, a short summary of your answers, how you'd like to pay, and any best times or note you add. Nothing is sent until you tick the box to agree and press send.
HurtsHere keeps a copy of your request in private storage. Our small team uses it to pass your request to the clinic you chose and to check with the clinic whether you were able to book. Once the clinic has your request, the clinic's own privacy practices apply.
When you ask for a plan
To write your plan, we send your answers (where it hurts, what it feels like, when and how it started, and your age range and sex if you gave them) to our AI provider, OpenAI. We don't send your name, contact details or location, and we don't keep the plan. Under OpenAI's terms for businesses, it isn't used to train their models; OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to check for misuse, then deletes it.
Counting visits
We count how many people reach each step, such as seeing results, choosing a therapist, or sending a request, using a random number made for this browser tab. These counts never include where it hurts, your answers, your location, or your contact details. We don't use cookies, ad pixels or tracking tools.
Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and the page requested) for a short time. We never log what you type.
How long we keep requests
We keep appointment requests only as long as we need them to connect you with the clinic and check how it went, and no longer than 12 months.
Your choices
To see or delete a request you sent, email privacy@hurtshere.com with the reference shown after you sent it. You can also contact any clinic directly instead of using HurtsHere.
Children
HurtsHere is for adults. If you're filling it in for your child, you're the one agreeing to share their details with the clinic.
Not medical advice
HurtsHere helps you find a physical therapist. It doesn't diagnose, and plans are general information, not medical advice. In an emergency, call 911. If you're thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988.
